Mike Scarff Subaru Commercials
These three commercials are part of the "What If You Had to Buy Everything the Way You Buy a Car" campaign that writer/director Randy Nargi created for Seattle car dealer Mike Scarff Subaru of Auburn.
Nargi teamed up with Albuquerque-based production company halflife digital to create the spots, which feature comedian Paul Wagner as a misplaced car dealer who tries to use his hard-sell tactics in a variety of situations.
For two of the spots, Director of Photography David Garcia used halflife's new RED camera, which produces an extremely high resolution image (4K) using a 12 megapixel bayer pattern CMOS sensor (which has about the same active area as a Super 35 film frame -- allowing the same depth of field to be produced in conjunction with lenses designed to cover the 35 mm film format).
"Latte Stand" was shot using halflife's Panasonic HPX500 camera, outfitted with a Pro 35 and Zeiss super speed lenses for the look of 35mm film.
